Term 4

I can't believe we are at the end of the year already!!  This term has gone so fast and I haven't managed to post any of the photos I have taken!  Here are a couple of the things that kept us busy.

PLANT SALE:
In preparation for the plant sale at the garden tour on the weekend of the 12th November, students in Takitimu potted up plants that were donated, and planted some seeds.

The plant sale was very successful, with the proceeds going towards next year's camp.  Thank you to Nate, Brian, Jack, Katie, Liam, Ella, Emma and Julia for helping at this event.

MISSION DAY:
Throughout the term, we have been very busy re-purposing wooden pallets to create fantastic outdoor furniture.  The students worked hard on these projects, creating high quality final products that were fit for purpose.

Nate, Brian, Rosemary, Willie and Dylan created a large planter box seat.

Jack, Jasmine, Julia and Fletcher made a smaller planter box seat.

Hunter, Ella and Gabe made a pallet couch.

Jordan and Joseph created a small table that was painted black with splashes of colour (unfortunately it somehow missed the photo shoot).

This project saw the students design and create a product that was strong, durable and fit for purpose.  During the planning stages, the groups had to consider the size of the final product, the different materials they were going to need, the construction of the item, and how it was going to be finished.

These items were auctioned at the Mission Day Market, with the proceeds going to the people of Kaikoura.  Well done everyone!

ROAD PATROL POOL PARTY:
Well done to everyone who has been part of the road patrol safety team.  The following photos are from the pool party celebration.

YEAR 8 MOVING ON CONFERENCE:
On Monday 5th December, the Year 8s went to Kuranui for the Moving On Conference.  They they listened to the inspiring speech by Belinda Caldwell about dreaming big, working hard and persevering.  Even if you lose 17 times in a row, if it is what you really want to do, then you must find the strength to push on and keep trying.

The students then participated in a variety of workshops.

 (yes this is just make-up!!)
